I’m a 22-year-old recent college graduate. I graduated from Mary Baldwin College, a private liberal arts school in Staunton, VA, with a B.A. in Communication (that’s Communication, not CommunicationS - my professors nailed that into our heads). I have loved sports ever since a Dallas Cowboys football game caught my attention at the age of 12. Ever since then, sports have been a big part of my life. I laugh, I cry (sometimes bawl depending on the magnitude of the loss), I curse, I hit stuff, I jabber, and most importantly, I express my love of sports through my writing. Always a writer/artist, my love of sports quickly turned into a love of writing about sports. Quick to voice my opinion in a hopefully amusing and witty way, I hope my writing hits a chord with other sports fans who possess and exude true passion about the games they watch.
My interests center mostly around the NFL and men’s college basketball. There is nothing better than March Madness in my opinion – I look forward to it throughout the entire year. Living in Virginia, ACC basketball is always a topic of conversation, which is where my love for college ball developed. Consequently, my ultimate goal is to cover ACC basketball, either in Virginia or North Carolina.
In case anyone was wondering, my allegiances go as follows. I am a Duke fan for life, and I will always contest that we do not get all the calls. And as a lifelong Cowboys fan, I will contest that there is only one way to go, and that is up, up, up.
As of now, I am writing to gain more experience and to develop my portfolio for either graduate school or for potential jobs. Syracuse and UNC-Chapel Hill are at the top of my list for furthering my education. Yeah…a Duke fan at UNC. Now wouldn’t that be something?
