Jeff Hisaoka is a die-hard fan of the San Jose Sharks and the San Jose Sabercats; a regular fan of: the Los Angeles Lakers of Staples Center, the Seattle Mariners of Safeco Field and the San Francisco Giants; and a sympathizer of Southern California professional sports teams, specifically the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. A Pleasanton resident, Jeff hates the Oakland A’s and the Oakland Raiders, the two teams that represent his home county (Alameda County) in the sports world. He claims that, like fans of the Sacramento Kings, A’s fans and Raiders fans gloat when they win and whine when they lose and don’t give credit to the other team.
Aside from the games, Jeff has a great fascination with sports venues. Since 2003, he has compiled a scrapbook of some of the ballparks, stadiums and arenas he has seen in-person, some of which include Safeco Field (Seattle, WA), Invesco Field at Mile High (Denver, CO) and Dodger Stadium (Los Angeles, CA). His life goal is to see every ballpark, stadium and arena in the United States and Canada.
Jeff began his hobby of writing while attending Las Positas Community College in Livermore; in the Fall of 2002, he joined the staff of their school’s newspaper, the Las Positas College Express. While at the Express, Jeff covered stories such as the 2003 Regional Science Bowl held at LPC and the CLPCCD (Chabot-Las Positas Community College District) Board of Trustees meetings. Later, Jeff became the Sports Editor, and wrote a column dedicated to hockey called “SlapShots.”
The summer of 2003 marked the beginning of Jeff’s online sports writing, or blogging, days thanks to the launch of thesportsopinions.com (formerly sfbayareasports.com). Jeff used thesportsopinions.com to publish entries of The “Jeff from Pleasanton” Files: A Sharks Fan’s Journal. Now with 25 journal entries, Jeff hopes to one day turn his Sharks journal into a published book and thus join the ranks of book writers such as the WWE’s Ric Flair and John Bradshaw Layfield.
A graduate of Foothill High School (Pleasanton, CA; 2000) and Las Positas College (2003), Jeff is currently attending San Jose State University while majoring in Speech Communication and looking to go into teaching.
