Beth is in her mid 40s, married, and the mother of two teenaged sons. All three men of the house are ridiculously avid sports-on-TV fans, as well as athletes themselves. If she wants to carry on any meaningful relationships with these people, she must meet them at their chosen venue, which is usually on the sofa watching a major (or minor) sporting event. Dinner in front of the TV used to be allowed only for the Super Bowl, the World Series, or any Washington Redskins game. Lately, however, the family can be seen dining in the den for such obscure events as an EPL game or some must-see rerun on ESPN Classic. She has her own strong opinions about any given match-up, but they usually have something to do with a random-but piercingly insightful and hard hitting--tangent to the game itself. She also has a wealth of knowledge about a variety of sports and can hold her own in a roomful of rabid fans of any stripe. When she grows up, she would like to be a sportswriter.
