What do you get when you throw nerd, jock, and pinch more nerd into a pot? You get Ashlee, who is a technical writer, but loves playing tennis and watching sports on TV. Before her five-year stint as a technical writer at an SF Bay Area software company, Ashlee was a graduate student in linguistics at UC Berkeley.
Ashlee loved playing sports in junior high, but she was little, and weak, and a bench warmer, so she chose more nerdly pursuits in high school, such as public speaking and bad poetry writing, in lieu of volleyball, basketball, and track.
Now that she’s a grown up and the same size as a lot of other grown ups, she plays recreational tennis as a hobby and of course follows tennis on TV. She also loves to watch professional football. She doesn’t have a favorite team, and instead roots for the team with the best uniforms that day or the team that will have the greatest impact on her fantasy football score. However, for local teams, she prefers the Raiders over the 49ers (probably because the 49ers have ugly uniforms). Secretly, when she has nothing better to do, she watches Friday Night Fights on ESPN2.
You can reach Ashlee at ashleecb@cal.berkeley.edu. She’d love to talk tennis, good football uniforms, and linguistics or technical writing.
