University of Oklahoma Sooners coach Bob Stoops has lost five of the last six bowl games he has been part of. Will he be their coach next year?
I believe Stoops will be back. First of all, I don't think the Denver Broncos are interested in him despite any rumors. Oklahoma has been a great program and think about how few teams make Bowl Championship Series bowls. I felt the Sooners failed to take advantage of opportunities in the title game. It was still a great season for Oklahoma .
What are the chances that University of Florida coach Urban Meyer will be looked at by the National Football League? Will Florida quarterback Tim Tebow enter this year's NFL draft?
I think Urban is a great college coach in a fantastic situation with Florida . I don't think he will look at the NFL for a while. As for Tebow , he loves college and with many experts saying he wouldn't go in day one of the draft, he should go back to college.
The college bowl games are being dragged out more and more every year. Should they go back to having all games done on January 1?
The bowl season is too long but it is supply and demand. It helps television networks like ESPN with programming that rates pretty well. I have a problem with nine teams going 6-6 in the regular season going to bowls. In a perfect world, it would end by January 4.
The New York Yankees have spent a tremendous amount on three players this offseason . Most all professional sports have a salary cap on teams. Should Commissioner Bud Selig do this for baseball?
The Yankees are playing by the rules. A salary cap seems fair but baseball has a problem on the other side...several owners who don't spend enough to put a better team on the field. I know there are measures in place to ensure competitive balance but they don't all work. Then look at the Tampa Bay Rays payroll last year...you need chemistry to win...not just a fat wallet.
The National Football League has let four coaches go. Were all those releases justified?
The New York Jets rushed to judgment on Eric Mangini . The guy had two winning seasons in three years. He was not out of work long landing in Cleveland .
Thank you for your time, Howie , and we'll be looking towards the NBA and college basketball seasons!!
