Is Brett finished, washed up, gone, bye-bye!
I wonder if he really understood the kind of lens he'd be under playing for a team called, the New York Jets.
You're scrutinized all the way to your demise.
Is that the kind of memory you want to go out with?
With so much criticism, so much laying on that "sore shoulder", there has to be some regret in playing for the sake of "wanting to play".
Brett is still a big kid at heart, but in professional sports, your body wears before your mind; wanting to play becomes mind over matter.
But hey, you can't blame a guy for that. Sometimes, that's the way games are won. I can name a few teams that make you go, huh?
Just the thought of Brett going to the Jets, was a mind over matter game for everyone, especially Johnson and Tanenbaum.
But let's hold on to that matter for a minute and turn the Jets losses into a positive.
Brett's mind is the very thing that elevated the Jets; they needed a leader. He turned their winning record around. He gave players the opportunity to shine, rallied around rookies, and showed them some kind of ordinance. Brett's experience brought light to a hidden offense.
Mangini's leadership? Hmmm. You never got the sense that he was leading Brett, but visa versa.
I truly believe you can't take the boy out of a man, as you can't take the girl out of a woman.
And every Sunday, I tune in to the NFL, jump up and down like a little girl, scream and yell like a high school cheerleader, and get the biggest thrill out of watching those big boys go for another touchdown.
I thank Brett for some of those memories.
But Brett, at some point in the very near future, could you please step out of your boyishness, and retire for the sake of 'wanting to retire'!
And let that be your next touchdown.
On to my picks for Wild Card Weekend.
Falcons@ Cardinals
I have one thing to say about this game:
Falcons Rookies should be my cookies!
I'll take both the coach and the Quarterback.
I'm picking the Falcons.
Colts @ Chargers
Ewwwy, ewwwy, gooey! Ah, that means, I love this match up!
The Chargers whipped the Broncos last Sunday.
They came from behind with a 4-8 record just one month ago.
On the flip side, the Colts have won every game since week 9.
Enough said.
I'm picking the Colts.
Ravens @ Dolphins
Two teams that caught the league and everyone else, by surprise. Yummy indeed!
The Dolphins have players showing up that we didn't know existed, not to mention a new Chad Pennington.
But if your looking at the scoreboards, its all about the Ravens.
The Ravens also have a better road record.
I'm picking the Ravens.
Eagles @ Vikings
I am happy for the Eagles because of all the bull-crap they put McNabb through.
Perhaps a new uniform wouldn't look so bad on him; like a J-E-T-S uniform. Hey, now!
Reality shows that the Vikings are much better at home.
Reality shows the Eagles with a better PF/PA record.
After last weeks turn of events, I'd say the Eagles destiny is on their side.
I'm picking the Eagles.
I love this game!
