An old one. I keep on hoping against hope that my 49ers have turned the corner. That JT O'Sullivan is the real deal. That Mike Nolan is a good head coach. That the defense is going to stop their opponents on third down. Last Sunday I took my grandkids to their third 49ers game this season, I took them to one pre-season game, which we lost, they went with their mom and dad to the opening day game, which we lost and Sunday I took them to their third Niners game, which we lost, in the fourth quarter.
My grandson, Kyle smiled at me as we left the stadium and told me had picked the Eagles on his picks (grandma challenged Kyle and Rachel to beat her). That my football friends is the only thing I didn't lose on Sunday.
The heat is on here in the City by the Bay. Nolan's tenure as head coach is the talk of sports radio heads. I have to admit I did expect a lot more from this team this season. Mike Martz has helped the offense score points, but the fourth quarter mistakes have cost this team dearly. Mike Singletary has a lot of young talent on the roster and small tried and true veterans, but they still can't seem to hold the lead and they've been burned badly in the passing game down the field.
Here we sit in week 7 in a division that is a bout as weak as you can get, and we are 2-4 with the NY Giants looking for revenge at home.
I hate to say it, but I smell a head coaching change on the horizon, and another case of, here we go again.
Fool that I am I am still picking the Niners to win against the G-Men.
