I am finally into full football watching mode. It took me a little time to start thinking football instead of wine, pasta and gelato.
But the old fire is burning bright again.
Football Sunday is my favorite day of the week. I look forward to it with a combination of anticipation and dread. This week's action prompted a run to the drugstore to coat my belly with Pepto-Bismol.
I thought I would be really smart and pick a few upsets. Problem is all the upsets went the other way. I had a very lousy record this week with only 6 out of 13. I refuse to dwell on it. But, I since I'm a glass half full person, I found some joy on Sunday. Although my beloved 49ers got their heads handed to them in the Big Easy, the team I love to hate, the Cowboys lost to the Redskins. I picked that upset! So after a few shots of that pink stuff, I relaxed and started preparing for yet another week of pigskin action.
So here we go again.
Week 5 picks in Bold
Washington @ Philadelphia
Should be a really good divisional game. I'm taking McNabb and his defense.
Tennessee @ Baltimore
Another good match up. The Ravens might actually have found their franchise quarterback. But if the Titans blitz Flacco they could win it. Still, I'm taking Flacco and the Ravens.
Indianapolis @ Houston
The Colts are simply struggling. The Texans are also. But this is the game where they will actually pull the upset.
San Diego @ Miami
Miami Beach is still dancing salsa and partying after beating the Pats. Reality sets in as the Bolts trounce them.
Kansas City @ Carolina
The Chiefs surprised me and a lot of other people when they upset the Broncos. Don't expect a repeat this week.
Chicago @ Detroit
The Bears have an offense! The Lions, well, not so much.
Atlanta @ Green Bay
Packers, Mr. Rodgers, yep, it's a cheese head Win.
Seattle @ NY Giants
The Seahawks will put up a good fight, but in the end the G-Men will beat them back.
Tampa Bay @ Denver
The Broncos lost to the Chiefs last week, they won't lose to the Bucs this week.
San Francisco @ New England
Don't even go there. I'll be at this game with high hopes but prepared for a blitzing defense to try and bury JTO.
Buffalo @ Arizona
This could get interesting. The surprising Bills go to the desert to face Warner. The Cardinals lost last week and also lost wide receiver Anquan Boldin. If the Bills can put pressure on Warner they just might put another big W up.
Cincinnati @ Dallas
The Boys get a chance to slap around the Bengals and get back on track.
Pittsburgh @ Jacksonville
I don't like the way the Steelers are playing, even though they pulled out a win on Monday. I like the Jags at home.
Minnesota @ New Orleans
I predict an upset as the Saints get stopped by an aggressive Vikings defense.
