The Miami Dolphins won 1 game last season. ONE lousy game.
Through it all, there remained one constant, the veteran player who makes women drool, Jason Taylor. JT showed up and played in spite of the mounting losses and the absolutely woeful play of his team. Jason Taylor isn’t a prima donna and he rarely speaks out publicly against the “man”.JT isn’t making headlines, is not a trouble maker, jail bird or dog fighting entrepreneur. He is simply the type of man women love and mothers pray for at the altar of future son in laws. But Jason Taylor is meeting the same fate many other veteran NFL players face. They are simply dispensable commodities in a game where youth is second only to the almighty dollar.
It appears as if Bill Parcells is planning to bring in young players. Just as in any organization, a new administration means out with the old cronies and in with the new ones.
If anyone can rebuild the Dolphins it is Bill Parcells.
But what is happening to Jason Taylor happens all too often in this game that I love to watch. Veterans are put out to pasture while unproven rookies are paid exorbitant amounts of money. It’s not unlike the way aging female actresses are treated once they have reached the over the hill age of 40.
It is what it is; yes, only a fool would expect to remain in the NFL once they have lost a step and are showing signs of losing that edge. This has always been a part of sports, but it seems that the NFL, more than any other league has castoff its veterans and embraced the youngsters. The young ‘uns are wet behind the ears, have no idea of how to handle fame and fortune and are self involved. They need veteran leadership and guidance.
Jason Taylor has the looks and charisma to be lead a successful life after football.
His stint on Dancing with the Stars may have met with disfavor from Bill Parcells since JT was a no-show for off-season work outs. But Jason Taylor is arguably the best player on the Fins roster, and he should be welcomed back with open arms and a new pair of dancing shoes.
