My fellow writers I would like to take a minute and thank the people who allow us to be who we are.

The people who not only support but encourage our need for this thing called sports.

Our significant others, our wives, husbands, boyfriends, and girlfriends.

The real unsung heroes of the sports world.

And for me that hero is my wonderful wife Emily who does more than just tolerate my passion for sports.

Anyone who loves sports and who has dated someone who doesn't will surely agree with me when I say this is not something to be taken for granted.

Now don't get me wrong, I was going to marry this woman regardless but her acceptance of my need for sports was like the extra point after the touchdown.

She not only allows me to watch hour after hour of sports but also tries to take an interest in them as well, watching and attending games.

She is invaluable to my writing as well as she provides me a great sounding board for all my article ideas and is even kind enough to proofread them for me.

So the next time you're watching the game with that special guy or gal take a second and let them know just how much you appreciate them for letting you be the sports junkie you are.
