It's been a long hiatus for ESPN's sports guru, Howie Schwab. He answers my question on the NBA, NFL and Major League Baseball.
The Boston Celtics are off to one of the best starts in NBA history. Will they keep it up?
I don't see why the Celtics won't keep things going. Kevin Garnett showed it against the Hawks in Atlanta recently. Problem is...the Cleveland Cavaliers and L. A. Lakers are playing great too .
There has been a lot of coaching changes early in the NBA season. Have these been right or are the teams jumping too fast?
In the NBA people want immediate results or else..."What have you done for me lately?" There are some good basketball minds out of work. Six coaches canned less than 25 games into the season seems like they were axed a little early.
Your pick for National Football League Most Valuable Player and why.
NFL MVP is very interesting. No clear cut guy. I will say Indianapolis Colts' quarterback Peyton Manning because Joseph Addai hasn't been 100 percent. There are numerous guys worthy of consideration .
What team(s) have been surprises for you this year in the NFL and why?
I would have to say the Miami Dolphins as the number one surprise. General Manager Bill Parcells and head coach Tony Sparano have done an amazing job. The Seattle Seahawks have been a major surprise in the other direction. I thought it would be different in coach Mike Holmgren's last season there .
Pitcher CC Sabathia signed with the New York Yankees with one of the highest salaries in history. Did the Yankees pay too much for him?
Probably but his deal is not as crazy as A.J. Burnetts . Sabathia won a Cy Young and has been dominant. Burnett won more than 12 games in a season once. Timing is everything and he posted his best numbers in his free agent year...2008.
