It's beginning to look a lot like.playoffs, everywhere you go....
But not 'round these parts. No, the playoffs haven't been seen in this neck of the NFL woods for a very long time.
You recall Jim Mora's famous rant don't you?
"Playoffs, you're talking about playoffs? Are you kidding me? I just hope we can win a game!"
I think I can identify with his feelings of abject disgust and frustration. But I am doing my best to avoid a Grinch-Like rant here.
So rather than take my frustrations out on my fellow playoff-less football friends, I thought I would think positive.
Sing along with me.
It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Playoffs
everywhere you go.
take a look at who's five-and-ten,
losing once again
with unknown names and coaches lame, in tow
it's beginning to look a lot like playoffs,
boys and gals keeping score,
but the prettiest sight to see
is a record of 13-3, we hope to see before we're 104.
It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Playoffs;
soon the games will start,
and the thing that will make them sting is
knowing that the team that they coulda been
is right within your heart.
But for those of you who have playoff and Super Bowl bound teams (or aspirations) drink up, be merry and don't even give us long suffering fans a second thought.
You know who you are!
The playoff picture is taking shape.
My picks for this week's games are as follows.
NFL Week 16
Iggles at Redskins - Pick Iggles. They are making their move, maybe too late for them tho.
Steelmen at Titans - Pick Steelmen - great match up. The D's for both these teams are championship caliber. This is a game with big playoff implications.
Dolphins at Chiefs - Pick Chiefs. Why? Because the Dolphins are playing in a sea of Red at Arrowhead. Otherwise the pick would be the Fish.
Cardinals at Patriots - Pick Pats. The Cardinals play in a weak division and the Pats are still looking to get into the playoffs or win the division. The Cardinals have it all locked up and there is no motivation to win this one.
Bengals at Browns - Pick Bengals. The sad saga of the Ohio teams continues. No playoffs to consider here only jobs on the line for players, coaches and management.
Niners at Rams - Pick Niners. The Rams are a bad team. The Niners have shown some spark and energy under Singletary. Mike Martz should be able to whack his old team hard and often.
Falcons at Vikings - Pick Vikings. Why? Just because. The Falcons are the darlings of the year. But the Vikings have a tremendous running game and good D.
Saints at Lions - Pick Saints. The Saints have been disappointing this season. In spite of Drew Brees numbers they just could not deliver.
Panthers at Giants - Pick Giants. I'm a bit worried about the way the G-Men have played of late. But if Brandon Jacobs is in the game and the offense can put up enough points early, they will win this very critical game, a game for first seed.
Jets at Seahawks - Pick Jets. Brett Favre is going to Seattle to kiss Mike Holmgren goodbye.
Texans at Raiders - Pick Texans. The Raiders have played some really UGLY football this season. Not a big surprise when you consider the Raiders organization lack of direction and consistency.
Bills at Broncos - Pick Broncos. Which Denver team will show up? If it's the good team they will outscore the Bills.
Chargers at Bucs - Pick Bucs. The Chargers are another underachieving and disappointing team. The Bucs have let some critical games slip away. This could be very close but the Bucs need the win to stay in the playoff picture.
Packers at Bears - Pick Bears. The Packers started hot and got pretty frosty as the season progressed.
