WEARING OUT HIS WELCOME
by Jo Ann Lawery
He's done it again. The football player who doesn't seem to know when to just shut up and play football.
Yes, good old Terrell Owens of the Philadelphia Eagles.
He seems as though he's doing everything he can to get thrown off the team.
Granted, he was one of the only good things to happen to Philly against the Patriots in the Super Bowl last year.
He won the hearts of all Eagles fans by playing his heart out, even though he was hurt.
And, if you think it's tough in New York, try to impress Philadelphia fans.
But what did T.O do this year for an encore?
He ruined all that great goodwill he built up by opening his mouth, asking for more money, and if that weren't enough, he had the cojones to criticize not only the Eagles organization, but quarterback Donovan McNabb as well.
I know McNabb has been hurt and is coming off a really bad year, but to air your dirty laundry on ESPN, no less and say that " If Brett Favre were quarterbacking the Eagles, we would win."
Sorry, T.O. but if Favre were your quarterback, you wouldn't be on the team too much longer. He wouldn't stand for you acting like a PTA- that's prime time asshole, not parents-teacher association.
You have the nerve to talk about the team's lack of class?
McNabb has more class in his pinky finger, T.O. than you have in your entire body!
You even mention that former Dallas Cowboy and now ESPN commentator Michael Irvin agrees with you because, "he's knowledgeable about this quarterback position."
News flash, T.O., of course Irvin is knowledgeable about quarterbacks.
He was catching passes from Troy Aikman all those years, for God sakes!
You certainly aren't endearing yourself to Eagles fans, T.O. when you show up to practice in, no less a Dallas Cowboys jersey?
Hello, don't you know anything about rivalries?
In all fairness, though, the Eagles should have known all of this craziness was going to happen. He wore out his welcome in San Francisco with the 49's, so there was no reason to think his m.o. was going to change once he went to another team.
By saying the Eagles aren't paying you enough, T.O., you really aren't making any brownie points with the fans in the city of Brotherly Love.
(Yeah, that's kinda funny, T.O., you aren't making enough money. Try living on mine or someone else with a real job salary, and then tell me how you aren't making enough money.)
The Eagles have suspended him for "conduct unbecoming" until further notice.
I think and I'm sure a lot of Eagles fans agree, the Eagles brass shouldn't wait until the season is over, just pay him and let the door hit his rear end on the way to some other NFL city.
T.O. has worn out his welcome in Philadelphia.
