Three Teams – MLB Predictions for 2014
Three Teams: MLB Predictions for 2014
While the 2013 World Series gets underway this week, many baseball fans will be wondering if their team will make it to the sport’s ultimate showcase.
For those not backing the Red Sox or Cardinals, the last week of October is a miserable one. Forlorn glances at the television as players no different from yours seeking baseball’s ultimate glory shatter your nights – and you’re left dreaming of what might have been.
Remember, there is always next year and, for many Betfair baseball fans, their chance of making the World Series is realistic.
If you’re a Mets fan, then 2014 could be your time, for Terry Collins is bringing together a tough team ready to play in the NL East. Matt Harvey and Bobby Parnell both showed what they’re capable of this year and if Collins can add another hitter alongside David Wright and Dan Murphy New York will at least make a wildcard place.
Baltimore, meanwhile, ran out of steam just when they needed a kick but 2014 could be a big one for Buck Showalter. If Chris Davis can hit like his did before the All Star Break the Orioles will be in contention next season, and with Adam Jones, Nick Markakis and Manny Machado boosting the offence this team look good.
Baltimore’s only problem – and one highlighted by many MLB fans who bet on betfair.com – is their starting rotation (past Chris Tillman) is terribly weak and that could be their downfall.
A third team ready for the World Series is Tampa Bay, who came up short in the playoffs this season but nevertheless proved themselves capable of going places in the AL East. The Rays were out of it in June but a series of results orchestrated by Evan Longoria fired them into the wildcard zone.
Give Longoria another run with the bat alongside James Loney and Ben Zobrist and the Rays are a dangerous outside bet with betfair.com to claim baseball’s ultimate prize.
