Texas and Florida Stay Undefeated
By Davin Colten

Tim Tebow
Number 1 ranked Florida Gators beat LSU this Saturday night 13-3. Although it was not a high scoring game, it was a great win for Florida against a tough defense. Holding the Gators to only one touchdown, quarterback Tim Tebow was in excellent physical condition after suffering a concussion two weeks ago. Having last week off to recover, Tebow looked like his old self again. He ran, he threw, he ran again, never slowing down in speed, looking just as fit as ever. You would never have guessed from his performance that this was a man who had just suffered a concussion, being taken out of the game vomiting, and rushed to the hospital only two games ago. A remarkable recovery, Tebow is still in the running for a second Heisman Trophy, and at this rate, he might just get it. Everyone including myself held their breath for those daunting few minutes while Tebow was unconscious, lying motionless on the field. No one knew what to expect. Gator fans felt their perfect season slowly slipping away, while the entire Florida football team felt what it was like to lose their eminence, if only for a brief moment.
While every team is trying to knock off the top two teams and give them their first loss of the season, Florida and Texas have remained strong. Two solid, practically invincible teams, they seem destined to play each other in the BCS Bowl Game. Ranked 2 Texas ran over CU Buffs Saturday night winning with an impressive victory 38-14. Although Texas and quarterback Colt McCoy started out a bit sluggish, they soon gained momentum, and showed everyone why they are still ranked number 2. They might never be ranked 1, I mean, Florida is the best college football team by far, but the Longhorns are a great second, and that is saying a lot. And while other teams in the top five have all fallen with one or two losses this season, Texas’ record has remained unblemished.
Heisman Trophy leader Colt McCoy is putting up impressive numbers each game, but he needs to start strong, not just finish well. There is a difference. And although Sam Bradford is still mentioned in contention for the Heisman with a few other names that pop up each week after impressive wins, like Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen, McCoy and Tebow are still the frontrunners. But if Clausen keeps winning and moves the Fighting Irish into Bowl contention, then maybe he will be sitting next to McCoy and Tebow this year instead of Bradford. It could happen. Anything is possible. This is after all college football. The most exciting game in the world!
